It has a flavor profile similar to curry and is most often prepared with yogurt, but it’s also very easy to substitute the yogurt for coconut milk, and that’s exactly what we did here. Feel free to change it around even more by going with beef or lamb instead of chicken if you’d like.

The dopiaza is a classic British curry dating back at least to British Raj times. The dopiaza means double onions. Use twice the weight of onions compared to the weight of meat but a classic Indian Dopiaza is more likely to use the onions in 2 different ways, fried and boiled, at different stages of the cooking.
